    Second Grade Summer Assignment

1. You must read for at least 15 - 20 minutes each day. You may choose

the book that you read. Please make a log of all of the books that you read

over the summer. Choose one that is your favorite and bring it to school

with you on the first day. We will be completing a book review about it.

2. Choose a special notebook that you will be using as a summer journal. You are to write in the journal at least once a week. You may write about a book that you read, what you’ve been doing, or anything else special that you may want to write about. You must write a paragraph with at least 7 sentences for each entry. Remember that a paragraph has a topic sentence, detail sentences and a conclusion. You may also draw a picture about your story on the page next to it.

Please remember to bring your book and your notebook to school with you on the first day. This will count as your first reading and writing grades for your new school year. Please have a fun, healthy, and safe summer. I can’t wait to read your stories and hear all about the great books that you have read!

Enjoy your summer!
